Animeals

The Mission

Animeals is a healthy, animal shaped convenience product for children.

The challenge

More than half of all children in the Netherlands don't meet the recommended vegetable intake as per the guidelines of the Netherlands Nutrition Centre (Wheel of 5). According to the CBS, this is particularly true for children between 4 and 11 years of age. The main issue is the development of picky eating in early childhood, with approximately 50% of kids being affected. Picky eaters are potentially at risk of malnourishment and causing distress for parents during mealtimes, which are typically considered a important break from the stress at work.

The solution

Studies have shown that children's willingness to try vegetables increases when they are cut into different shapes. However, this can be time-consuming for parents during meal preparation. Therefore, we came up with the idea of Animeals. Animeals are frozen vegetables cut into animal shapes, such as fish and cats. One package consists of 10 portions and helps provide a child's daily recommended vegetable intake and encourages them to eat their veggies while also saving time for parents, as they only need to put them in the air fryer or oven.
